Cloud Gate Acupuncture Philosophy & Practice

Bagua-SymbolHealth and wellbeing is the result of the harmonious balance of life energies within us. My role as your acupuncturist is to develop a specific treatment plan which, in addition to acupuncture, may include dietary and lifestyle recommendations, and herbal supplementation.

A holistic practitioner, I understand and implement the treatment of each person as an individual encompassing the mind, body and spirit. The development of energetic imbalance stems from each individual’s unique life, life situations and lifestyle. I honor each person and their story and focus my treatments to the individual. Focused treatments address the underlying root of the disorder, rather than a generalized remedy which may only tend to its symptoms.

As your acupuncturist and healthcare advocate, my role is to facilitate change; allowing transitions and impacting your relationship to health and disease. Many conditions can be treated with acupuncture including diseases of the respiratory system (sinusitis, bronchitis, asthma), gastrointestinal system (diarrhea, constipation, ulcers), neurological and musculo-skeletal disorders (headache, migraine, trigeminal neuralgia, facial palsey, sequelae of stroke, Meniere’s disease, frozen shoulder, tennis elbow, sciatica, low back pain, osteoarthritis). Acupuncture can also treat conditions/symptoms where there is no clear western medical diagnosis. Acupuncture is a safe, gentle and relaxing form of treatment which can benefit people of all ages.

I have special interest in treating cancer and cancer treatment side-effects, autoimmune disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia, and psycho-emotional problems such as anxiety and depression.

Traditional Chinese Medicine

Chinese Herb, IndigoTraditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a system of diagnosis and healthcare that has evolved over the past 3,000 years. It involves a sophisticated set of practices designed not only to treat and prevent illnesses, but also to maintain health and wellbeing. The Chinese approach to understanding the human body is based on a holistic concept of the universe — this approach reflects the Daoist belief that everything in the cosmos is interdependent and mutually interactive.

Human beings are an integral part of the energetic, energy filled universe.  Both health and illness are a result of the energetic dynamics of the individual. Our mind, body and spirit are manifestations of the life-force of the universe and therefore cannot be considered separately. The Chinese approach to understanding health and wellness allows no detail to be excluded, analyzed or interpreted without reference to the whole.

Energetic based treatments, acupuncture, and herbal medicine work together to help re-establish harmony and equilibrium for individuals within his or her unique environment and situation.
